Brooklyn boards opposed street-safety items five times as often as Manhattan boards.
Share of each board's street-safety resolutions by stance. Rows: all Manhattan boards, all Brooklyn boards, then every board with 10 or more items.
- Board requested a safety fix
- Supported (incl. with conditions)
- Asked for study or delay
- Opposed

Note: 580 resolutions on bike lanes, bus lanes, Open Streets, school streets, daylighting, slow zones and traffic calming, from the Block Party resolutions archive. Brooklyn coverage is mostly 2019 onward; Manhattan runs back to 2001. Stance labels checked by a blind second review (77% exact agreement; supported and supported-with-conditions are combined because reviewers split on that line).
Method: Resolutions with a stance of excluded or failed motion are left out of the 580. The percentage at the end of each row is the share of that row’s items the board opposed.
