The State Capacity Ecosystem

Practitioners, technologists, researchers, and funders are rebuilding government's ability to deliver. This is the shared infrastructure for that work: a map of the field, a community of builders, reusable methods, and the writing and events that carry them.

Our mission

Connect the people working to make government deliver, and prove what they can build together.

Our vision

A government with the talent, tools, and operating capacity to deliver for the people it serves.

Ecosystem Hub
The field is big. Now you can see all of it.

A database of 300+ organizations working on state capacity, built by the SCE team and visualized three ways: a searchable directory of who does what, an affinity network that scores which orgs share problems and funders, and a Connect directory of the people behind the work. Start with a question and the search will point you to the orgs and people closest to it.

Community
The people fixing government are meeting each other here.

Our first build night put 80+ builders in one room and produced 20 working tools in under two hours. Between events, the Connect directory matches practitioners, researchers, and funders by problem, geography, and what they can offer. A community Slack is next.

Policy & Programs
We write about what works and run programs that prove it.

The State Capacity Ecosystem Substack publishes field analysis and ships working prototypes alongside the writing. Our events put those ideas in front of a room full of builders and see what holds up.

Everything we learn becomes a playbook you can run.

We turn our events into reusable methods: a sponsor responsibility checklist you can hand to a funder today, an event playbook in progress, and working prototypes from our posts and build nights that anyone can open and use.

Stay in the loop on state capacity events and tools.
