A shuttle bus at weekend speed takes two to three times as long as the G on every trip, and walking Greenpoint to Downtown Brooklyn takes 93 minutes
Minutes for four trips along the G. Train times are the scheduled Saturday running time from the MTA's GTFS feed; shuttle times are the road distance at the B62's Saturday 2026 average of 7.2 mph, with no wait time; Citi Bike and walking times are OpenStreetMap routing.
- G train, scheduled
- Shuttle bus at B62 weekend speed, no wait
- Citi Bike
- Walk
The shuttle is a different trip. Court Sq to Bedford-Nostrand is 15.5 scheduled minutes on the G. The same 4.8 road miles at the B62's weekend speed take 40 minutes before the rider has waited for a bus, and the 2024 shuttles were timed at 40 to 51 minutes against a promised 4-minute headway that was not kept.
Bikes beat the bus on every trip; walking does not. A Citi Bike covers Greenpoint Av to Hoyt-Schermerhorn in 31 minutes, the bus in 37, the walk in 93. For a non-member the ride costs $4.99 plus 41¢ a minute on an e-bike, about $17.70, and Greenpoint's docks fill up on shutdown weekends.
Train times are from a Saturday southbound G trip in the MTA's static GTFS feed downloaded August 31, 2026 (trip departing Court Sq 12:02); the range across all 134 Saturday trips is within 2 minutes of each figure.
Shuttle times divide the OpenStreetMap cycling route distance between the two stations (the closest proxy for the street route a bus follows) by the B62's trip-weighted Saturday average speed for January to June 2026, 7.24 mph, from the MTA's route segment speeds. The average includes time at stops. No wait or transfer time is added.
Citi Bike and walking are OSRM's foot and bike routing durations between station entrances, which assume a conventional bike at about 9 mph and walking at about 3 mph. An e-bike is faster; a full dock is slower.
