Half of restroom buildings book under $1,050 a year in repairs

Average yearly labor plus parts per Parks restroom building, 2022 to 2025. 649 buildings with cost booked in those years. Median $1,047; 90th percentile $3,240.

Daily cleaning and restocking by park workers is logged in a separate dataset that does not separate restroom work from the rest of a park, so it is not in these totals.

How restroom buildings were identified: 696 buildings in Parks’ asset system whose description names a public restroom, comfort station or bathroom. Data pulled: October 16, 2026, from the NYC Open Data API. Construction totals by project: the NYC Parks Capital Project Tracker lists 23 completed single-site new restroom buildings with a median total of $3.865M.
